VBS 2018 – Rescued by Jesus

Event Date: July 9, 2018

Venture onto an uncharted island where kids survive and thrive.
Anchor kids in the truth that Jesus carries them through life’s storms.

When you are lonely,
When you worry,
When you struggle,
When you do wrong,
When you’re powerless,
Jesus Rescues!

Enjoy the Music of VBS 2018

WAITLIST

All 600 spots filled up so incredibly quick! While this does help us get ahead of things and do prep work a lot earlier than normal, it does unfortunately mean that we now have a waitlist. We do wish that all kids interested would be able to attend, but we are constrained by space and keeping the kids safe is our top priority! We encourage you to add your kids to the waitlist if you have not yet registered them for VBS. As we find out about spots opening up we will happily replace those open spots with kids from the waitlist, doing our best to be as fair as possible. Please be aware that we organize groups by grade, so if all the spots open up in 3rd grade, then only 3rd graders would be pulled from the waitlist for those spots. However, additional consideration may be made if the child’s parents are willing to be volunteers. Please contact us if you have additional questions.

SCHEDULE

Kids entering kindergarten through 6th grade in the fall will enjoy song, craft, snack, Bible story, and games! The kids all start and end in the Worship Center each day. The kids will need to be signed in and out by a parent/guardian (or a trusted older sibling) each day with their group guide.

GROUPS

We prayerfully place each child in their age specific group. You will receive a postcard the week before VBS with your child(s) group placement.

DRESS-UP DAYS

Monday: Blue Day – You are shipwrecked on an island, which makes you blue, wear clothes the color of the ocean…

Tuesday: Keeping Cool in the Shade – Wear your coolest sunglasses or hat…

Wednesday: Wacky Hair Wednesday – How bad would your hair look if you were shipwrecked? Or would it be full of fruit?

Thursday: Hawaiian Day – Do you have a Hawaiian shirt or a grass skirt? Maybe a flower lei or even dress up as lava? Use your imagination…

Friday: VBS T-Shirt Day … This is our 17th year of awesome VBS memories! Wear this year’s VBS shirt or one from the past!

SNACKS

We are really excited about our themed snacks this year. The kids will be constructing their own snacks and while they eat, the group discussion will be centered around the theme of the day. Below is a list of the items that will be a part of each snack. If your child is allergic to any portion of the snack we ask that you send them with their own snack. Also please note that the group guides will have granola bars available during the morning if the kids need a little extra to snack on (this helps those groups that either have snack during the first or last rotations).

Monday: Sand-elicious Parfait – vanilla pudding cups, vanilla wafer cookies, sweedish fish

Tuesday: Gone Fishin’ – popcorn and skittles

Wednesday: Castaway Cracker Mix – goldfish and string cheese

Thursday: Life Preservers – powdered sugar donuts, red licorice or candy ropes, Keebler cookies

Friday: Graham Raft – graham crackers, cheese, pretzels, fruit by the foot

GENERAL INFORMATION

The kids will be running and having fun during games, so please send your kids in closed toe shoes!

CLOSING PROGRAM

We will have our annual closing program Friday night (July 13th)! Make sure to put it on your calendar … the kids enjoy showing off their musical skills. This is also when the Boy’s vs Girls Missions Offering total is revealed.
